Carrier Transicold Meets Whites Transport Services’ High Expectations with Vector™ 1950 Fleet Update

26 October 2016

WARRINGTON, England, October 26, 2016 - Cirencester-based Whites Transport Services updated its fleet with 10 Chereau single-deck trailers fitted with Carrier Transicold Vector™ 1950 systems for use on the firm’s non-stop European express service. Carrier Transicold, which operates in the UK as Carrier Transicold (UK) Limited, is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

Whites Transport Services, which specialises in the transportation of fresh hanging meat, made Carrier Transicold its preferred supplier after being impressed with the reliability and long service life of 20 trailers mounted with the previous generation Vector™ 1850 systems.

“Vehicle downtime simply isn’t an option on our non-stop service where we have drivers positioned along the route,” said Pete White, transport manager, Whites Transport Services. “Thanks to Carrier Transicold’s network of maintenance providers, we have peace of mind that should our trucks run into any problems, they can be back on the road quickly, regardless of where they are in Europe.”

Whites Transport Services’ non-stop European express service, which places drivers along the route in a relay, allows a vehicle to reach its destination in the quickest time possible.

“The fact that our previous Carrier-equipped trailers were still going strong after nine years, despite how hard we worked them, is testament to their reliability, and is the main reason we continue to specify 100 per cent Carrier Transicold equipment on new assets,” added White. “We like to have the very best for our fleet, and for us, that means Carrier Transicold systems on Chereau trailers.”

The new units are expected to clock up almost 100,000 miles annually, delivering hanging meat and palletised goods throughout the UK and mainland Europe and returning with fresh or frozen local produce.

Carrier Transicold’s service partner network spans more than 600 locations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Russia. The network is further supported by around 2,000 service engineers and 600 mobile service units, providing manufacturer-trained support wherever it is needed. Each service partner is an independent company, providing service for Carrier Transicold equipment.

With a cooling capacity of up to 18,875 watts and airflow of 5,700 m3/h, Vector 1950 systems offer reliable, high-power performance, making the units ideally suited to transporting fresh meat. A rapid pulldown rate facilitates precise cold chain control and integrity at all times. Carrier Transicold’s patented E-Drive™ all-electric technology removes up to 17 serviceable parts, which combined with its electrically driven semi-hermetic compressor and the use of micro-channel condenser coils significantly reduces refrigerant charge and possible escapes compared to conventional systems using standard technology.

Founded in 1992 with a single truck and trailer, Whites Transport Services has grown to operate a fleet of 20 trucks and 30 refrigerated trailers.
