Carrier Transicold UK Heats Up Commercial Vehicle Show with New Trailer Refrigeration Technology

29 April 2014

Carrier Transicold UK invited operators to experience its latest innovation in temperature-controlled technology, the new Vector 1350 trailer unit, at this year’s Commercial Vehicle (CV) Show. Carrier Transicold helps improve global transport and shipping temperature control with a complete line of equipment for refrigerated trucks, trailers and containers, and is a part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The lightweight Vector 1350 unit’s clever design ensures it maximises payload potential and reliability while minimising fuel consumption and system downtime, the key ingredients for long-distance trucking. Plus, the design makes the new system a particularly attractive proposition for trailer rental fleets.

The CV Show ran from April 29 to May 1 at the NEC Birmingham. It marks the first time the Vector 1350 unit has been on display at an exhibition in the UK, following its international launch in Berlin in November 2013.

“The Vector 1350 unit further strengthens an already comprehensive range of temperature-controlled trailer systems,” said Justin Grace, managing director Northern Europe, Carrier Transicold. “The CV Show provides the perfect opportunity to showcase this new technology to UK and Irish fleets at the biggest industry gathering of its type.”

The Vector 1350 unit replaces Carrier Transicold’s previous-generation Maxima range. Powered by a highly efficient 1.1-litre engine, it reduces fuel consumption by up to 30 per cent compared with the Maxima and carries 27 per cent less refrigerant thanks to an innovative microchannel condenser coil.

The launch of the Vector 1350 rounds out Carrier Transicold’s Vector range, which consists of three specialised refrigeration units — the 12,700-watt Vector 1350, the 14,800-watt Vector 1550 and the 18,800-watt Vector 1950, the latter two with E-Drive™ all-electric technology. The full Vector range offers a trailer solution to best suit nearly every possible customer application.

In addition to displaying the Vector 1350 unit, Carrier Transicold UK’s stand will carry detailed information about its full range of temperature-controlled units for light commercial vehicles, rigid trucks and trailers.
