Leading global transport refrigeration specialist, Carrier Transicold, announced the world premiere of its Vector™ 1950 trailer refrigeration unit, with E-Drive™ technology, at the IAA Show in Hanover today. Carrier Transicold helps improve global transport and shipping temperature control with a complete line of equipment for refrigerated trucks, trailers and containers and is a part of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

Featuring microchannel condenser coils, the Vector 1950 unit’s condenser is smaller and lighter than its predecessor, the Vector 1850, while providing even greater efficiency. The Vector 1950 unit also boosts capacity that is four per cent more than the previous model, achieving 18,800 watts, for faster pull-down and the ability to haul larger loads over long distances.

Also available as a multi-temperature version, the Vector 1950 MT unit’s microchannel coils help reduce fuel consumption per watt delivered by 10 per cent on average. The use of microchannel coils produces an environmentally sound solution, enabling a compact design that results in a 17 per cent reduction in the unit’s refrigerant charge. The Vector 1950 unit is equipped with Carrier’s patented E-Drive all-electric technology, which removes mechanical transmissions found in belt-driven systems and transforms engine power into electricity through a generator.
