Carrier Transicold’s attention to detail key to renewing Judd’s Transport business

Carrier Transicold has secured an order for two new Vector® 1850 temperature controlled units from Dorset-based Judd’s Transport, a family-owned business that benefits from the efficient, reliable products and comprehensive service Carrier provides customers of all sizes.

The Vector 1850 units, mounted on new 13.6 metre tri-axle Gray and Adams trailers, gives Judd’s Transport a powerful, low-noise solution for temperature controlled transport. They join Judd’s fleet, which delivers to customers throughout the UK and Europe.

Judd’s Transport has been in operation since 1975 and has specialised in temperature controlled transport since the recession of the 1980s, when the directors made a conscious decision to move away from general haulage. The company now operates its own dedicated fleet of 20 Scania tractor units and 18 temperature controlled trailers, all of which use Carrier Transicold refrigeration systems.

“As a close-knit family company, what we appreciate most about our relationship with Carrier Transicold is their attention to detail,” explained Gary Judd, who took over the running of the business from his father, Charlie. “Judd’s is not yet a household name like some other hauliers, but Carrier Transicold realises that when we choose a supplier, we need them to deliver on time, every time. In this way they support us, and more importantly our customers, too.”

Rob Carter, key account manager at Carrier Transicold, added: “Judd’s Transport is typical of one of our smaller regional customers, and their loyalty to Carrier Transicold speaks volumes for the performance of our products in their busy fleet. It goes without saying that no matter what size fleet a customer operates, all customers benefit from access to the same comprehensive aftersales support developed to keep our largest national customers on the road.”

Delivering reduced engine emissions and improved fuel efficiency in comparison with its predecessor, the Vector 1850 unit offers excellent refrigerant containment owing to its unique design, which includes 50 per cent fewer joints on the refrigeration circuit and a semi-hermetic compressor that helps to ensure the lowest possible leak rate.

By associating advanced technology with maximum versatility, the Vector 1850 provides both proven reliability and excellent refrigeration capacity to generate efficiencies that will help Judd’s bottom line, whilst reducing the environmental impact of the company’s operation.

The units include patented all-electric technology, which eliminates 17 serviceable parts such as belts, clutch and shaft seal to enable a longer product life and enhanced reliability. In addition, 94 per cent of the components used in the Vector 1850 unit can be recycled at the end of its operating life.

The Vector 1850 uses non-ozone-depleting R-404A refrigerant to offer unparalleled pull down and temperature control, with set points available from -30ºC to +32ºC.
