Carrier Transicold UK has launched Coldcare™, a pre-owned equipment certification programme to give buyers confidence when purchasing a second-hand vehicle or trailer fitted with Carrier Transicold temperature controlled equipment.

Coldcare certification signifies that the refrigeration system has been serviced under Carrier Transicold’s Golden Cold® fixed-cost repair and maintenance agreement. This requirement confirms the second-hand refrigeration system has been fully maintained to Carrier Transicold’s technical specifications by manufacturer-trained technicians using genuine spare parts. Purchasers are also eligible for a 20 per cent discount on standard second-life rates if they choose to maintain their second-hand unit under a Golden Cold agreement.

Scott Dargan, operations director at Carrier Transicold UK explained: “The Coldcare programme marks a significant step forward for the industry by taking the guesswork out of whether the previous owner properly maintained the refrigeration system or fitted genuine replacement parts. If the vehicle is carrying a high-value load, a failure can prove costly, inconvenient and harmful to an operator’s reputation.”

Carrier Transicold UK customers can print a Coldcare certificate at the touch of a button by logging onto the company’s dedicated MyFleet® fleet management website. Certificates are available for any vehicle covered by a Golden Cold agreement, from the smallest chiller unit for a car-derived van up to multi-temperature systems for 13.6 metre double-deck trailers. Each certificate states the model name, serial number, fleet number and duration of the maintenance agreement, with the option to verify any details by telephone with Carrier Transicold’s UK head office in Warrington.

Dargan added: “The launch of the Coldcare programme reinforces the extra value that our Golden Cold packages bring to customers by making their used assets even easier to sell. We are also confident they will help to strengthen residual values in comparison with other equipment that has not had the benefit of being serviced and maintained to our exacting standards.”

In addition to the benefits of Coldcare certification, Golden Cold fixed cost repair and maintenance agreements include all maintenance recommended by Carrier Transicold along with genuine replacement parts and 24-hour breakdown assistance throughout the UK. These agreements can also be extended to cover the European Union.
